Broken Arm
Well we got a call from school asking us to come and pick up Nathan that he has hurt his wrist. When I got to the school they had him in a make shift splint out of paper and tape. He was sitting there looking as laid back as could be. I asked the nurse if she really thought he was hurt ? She was pretty sure his wrist was broken so we headed off to the Emergency Room. Nathan was so sweet and was trying to be such a big boy. Everyone at the ER was so nice to him . We got our X Rays and sure enough it needed a cast :(
They put on soft cast until the swelling went do and then we would get the hard one.
After a week we headed to the ortho to get the real deal. He picked purple and yellow for the Vikings and the "cast man" made him a cool cast.
We even painted a Vikings on it so everyone would know what the purple and yellow was for :)
He has been so good about the whole thing. He has not complained once about any of it. I am sure it helps that everyone gives him a little special attention because of his pitiful little arm in that cast. The worst part is he has to miss all of the football games except the last two because of it. He has still wanted to go to every single practice and his coach is nice enough to still let him play with the team. On Game Days he gets to sit with the team and even do the coin toss. He has been a great sport about it all . Everyone tells me to get used to it because boys always break things...... UH OH !

Surprise Trip To Disneyland!
For Nathans sixth birthday we decided to surprise him with a trip to Disneyland! They had opened a new cars land that looks just like Radiator Spring from the Cars movies. Nathan has always loved the Cars movies so we thought this was the perfect time. None of us had ever been to Disneyland so we were pretty excited .
We told Nathans teacher so she could give us his work since he would be missing school . She promised to keep it a big secret from him . We picked him up from school with the car loaded up and ready to go. Nolan had no clue anything was going on either. They both started to realize when Nathan saw the luggage in the back of the car. WE started guessing where we were going. Nathan said it was Mexico for sure! Nolans guess was a rocket ship. We got to the airport and away we went! They still had no clue when we landed there were Disneyland signs everywhere so we thought we were busted for sure. Nathan mentioned it a few times but didn't make his official guess. WE had a long bus ride to the hotel where Nolan passed out. Nathan saw the entrance and said "I know it is Disney! I see people with Disney shirts on everywhere!" ha ha ha. HE was right and so excited. We got into our room and settled in for our big day in the morning! Our first stop had to be Radiator Springs to ride the Cars ride. When we finally go through the long line we loaded into our car and rode through radiator springs . We ran into all of our Cars friends like Mater, Lightning McQueen, we even rode through Ramones paint shop and got a new paint job! We hung out in Radiator Springs riding all the rides and eating in Flo's Dinner. It was so cool how everything was just like the movies. The boys were having such a great time.
We headed to the other areas and rode all kinds of fun rides . Nathans favorite ride was the HUGE roller coaster I thought he would be so scared of. He rode it a few times with Kyle and then we switched off and he rode with me. Nolan wasn't tall enough for this one but didn't mind because he rode the carousel while we waited. As we were walking around the Space Shuttle made its last flight over us! It was so cool to be at Disneyland as it flew right over with the fighter jets right beside it. This was perfect for Nathan since he loves space so much.
We then hoped on the big Ferris wheel that spins around. This by far was the scariest thing we rode ! It was crazy how your little cart would swing and roll across to the other side ! By the end of the day we were so tired and all passed out. The next day was Nathans Birthday!!! We went to spend the day at Disneyland riding all of the fun rides we love from Disneyworld. We stopped and had lunch in a Bayou like restaurant by the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. It was just like we were eating by the water with trees and lighting bugs flying around. They even brought Nate a special birthday dessert with a candle to blow out. We walked around and rode the Haunted Mansion that was decked out like the Nightmare Before Christmas movie. It was fun and I am so surprised we made it in without anyone panincking. Another ride I was so surprised they loved was the Tower of Terror! They both hoped right one with no issues . After the crazy drops and the ride stopped Nolan said " I did not like that" .We walked out and Kyle noticed there was no wait and asked Nate if he wanted to ride again well Nolan said he wanted to ride again too. The same thing happened, he was fine but at the end said he did not like that ride. ha ha ha. WE rode a few more rides and then headed back to the hotel to swim and relax for a little. They had a huge water slide for big kids and a little one for Nolans age. Me and Nolan had a blast watching Daddy and Nate fly down the other slide. We all got dried off and headed back to the park to eat dinner and have some more fun at the park.
The next day we did it all over again. We watched so many fun shows like Frankenweennie in 4D( Frankenweenie is now Nolans favorite movie), Playhouse Disney live and the Pixar Parade! It was so fun and the boys had a blast yelling out all their favorite characters as they rode by. After we had to take another ride on Nolans favorite ride of the whole trip, The Little Mermaid! He loves Ariel and we rode this ride about 10 times. It was okay with us since there was never a line and always nice and cold. Nolan was so funny as we would go through just staring at all the stuff and at the end he would wave and say by to Aeriel every time. Star Tours was of course a favorite which we rode two times while we were there! The cool thing about Star Tours was that the ride was different both times so it was like a whole new ride. The next day was Kyles birthday and our last day there. We had a breakfast with all of the characters! It was so fun and the boys were loving all the attention from the characters. Daddy and Nolan got a special treat with a candle to blow out. Nolan kept flirting with Daisy and kissed her about 30 times. h ah ah ah.
It was such a fun trip and we were so happy to be able to surprise Nathan. Looking back I can not believe we packed in so much stuff in such a quick trip but it was so worth it to see how much fun the boys had!

Kindergarten
Nathan is officially a Kindergartener !!!! I can not believe how fast this came. He has been so excited to start school asking most days how much longer. We went to meet his teacher a few nights before school started. He was very quiet and seemed so nervous. He didn't say a word the whole time . When we got in the car he started rambling on about how his teacher told him what a great job he does standing in line!
On the first day of school we got up and ready! He was so excited and looked so handsome. We drove through and I dropped him off :( I am still sad to this day because I was told that we were not allowed to go in with our kids on the first day . It was to help them adjust to school faster. Well sure enough I saw a ton of parents going in! He hopped right out of the car like he had done it a million times before. He almost forgot to give me a kiss goodbye!!! I made sure that didn't happen.
I was waiting all day to pick him up and hear about his day. Kyle and I both got to the car line early in hopes of picking him up first. Well I think everyone else had that same idea. We sat and sat and sat. Finally it was our turn and we could see Nathan. Nolan rolled down his window and kept saying Nay Nay!!! Nay Nay! . We got up and he hopped in the car. He said he had a good day and that was it. I couldn't get any more info out of him. Later Daddy got the scoop from him and it turns out the car rider thing was not okay with him. He really wanted to ride the bus. I said no way. The next day we did the whole thing again except I snuck in this time since I had stuff to drop off ( good excuse right ). After school I got the same response and the day before, he wanted to ride the bus. I talked to some moms at football and they all promised the bus would be safe. I agreed to let him ride the bus the next day . He was soooooo happy. One of the boys who plays football with him even saved him a seat on the bus and made sure that he knew where he was going. I thought that was so sweet and it makes me feel so good that he has big first graders watching out for him.
Every since then he has been riding the bus and doing great! He tells me his favorite part of school is riding the bus.
His teacher called the remind us of a meeting the other night and left such a sweet message about Nathan. She said that he is such a good student and a great example and role model for the other kids in class. It makes me so happy to hear such sweet things about Nathan. We know what an amazing kid he is around here but I always worry about him when he isnt home. It makes me feel so much better about him not being here with me when I get messages like that.
Little Beakers
This summer we took a visit to the new science lab for kids called Little Beakers. Our friends Caden and Carson were even able to join in on the fun. The older boys were hooked up with lab coats and goggles while the little ones were shown to their own science lab full of blocks , microscopes and telescopes. Some of the fun experiments we did included making slime that glows in the dark, snow, battling foam, and a water tornado. The boys were able to play on the lab computers hooked up to microscopes too. We had such a fun time and it was right up both boys alleys. Nathan loves science and Nolan loves to see all of the reactions . We will be going back one day after school to try out some of the other things we didn't have time for.
Nasa
One of our other fun trips this summer was going to Nasa with our friends!!! We packed up and headed out . They had all kinds of fun science stuff set up that Nathan loved. We watched a show with some cool science stuff in it. We went on the tour of Nasa where the boys got to see the command center, space station mock ups!, rovers, and rockets! . They have a new area that we have never been to before with the space station replica for astronauts to train in. It was really neat to see just what it looks like. They also had an area where they train with ropes and pulleys to feel like it does in space with no gravity. The boys were able to watch one of the guys working on it and swinging all around.
After the tour we stopped for lunch in the space cafeteria . We fit in some more fun including taking off in the space shuttle simulated ride, taking a tour of the fake space shuttle and playing in the huge space playground. We ended the perfect day with some dippin dots ice cream and headed back to planet home.
After our visit Nathan tells me that he wants to be a Secret Agent Astronaut. I love that he has combined his two favorite things into one job. Hey who knows, if we are living on space by then it just might be the job to have, :)
Galveston
This summer Granny and Grandpa came to visit us! One of those days we headed out to Galveston to the new Pier. We got so lucky because it was such a beautiful day. We stopped on the way and got some lunch so we would be ready for lots of fun. When we got to the pier the boys were so excited. We headed in to the rides! The kids rides were in the front and the boys hopped right on. We headed into the back where some of the bigger rides were and talked Nathan to getting on . He did his normal panic on the first one where we look like horrible parents for making him ride. After that he LOVED riding the rides. We did so much fun stuff like playing carnival games, face painting and of course eating all that yummy fair food!
It was such a fun day and the boys had a great time showing Granny and Grandpa around.
Gator Country
The boys love a show called Gator Boys. It is pretty funny because it is about a gator farm that rescues gators from lakes and swamps that are threatening to people. The guys dive right into the lakes and catch those gators like nothing. At night when I say "Nolan it is time for bed" he yells out " I just want to watch Gator Boys!!!" ha ha aha.
Since Summer is coming to an end :( we decided to take a day off and head out to a gator farm in Beaumont so the boys could get their gator fix. They were so excited when we told them where we were going. It was a long ride but they did a great job.
We got there just in time for the show that was about to start!!! We headed over to a picnic area where the lady started telling us all about alligators and even brought out her pet 4 year old alligator , Liliy. She brought here around and showed us her teeth, eyes, and how strong her jaw was. The boys were paying such great attention . During the show she also brought out a HUGE python. I guess Nolan thought he was for petting because he jumped up and ran at him ! I about had a heart attack while Kyle intercepted. Next she brought out a little crocodile to show the difference between the two. After she took us over to a huge pond to meet Al , the biggest gator in captivity. I am pretty sure she said he was almost 1,000 pounds! She got in there and started to hit a stick in the water to make him come over to her( The boys have now started to use this same thing in the pool when they are playing gator boys).
Big Al came out of the water and he was HUGE! The boys were watching and thought it was so cool. She got on him and opened his big ol mouth so everyone could see those chompers. At the end of the show she told all the kids to line up and they could hold Lily. The boys were excited. Nolan went first and wanted to giggle and pet Lily rather than hold her. Nathan went next and scooped her up like he had done it a million times before. He was so happy and I think Nolan thought they were taking her home which made him very happy. :)
After we went and saw the baby alligators inside. Nolan kept telling me how cute they were and that he wanted one. ummmmmm no.
We got to eat lunch right in the middle of a room full of snakes and alligators!!! After we got some gator food and walked to the different ponds to feed them. This part freaked me out. It was crazy to see an empty pond all the sudden fill with the gators that had been sleeping at the bottom. We were on a wooden bridge and all I could think was what is some one falls through or jumps over!!!! Well luckily we all got out alive and the boys had such a great time! They are still loving gators till this day and even ask every time we pass a retention pond if there is a gator in it.
This Is Nolan
I feel like Nolan has been left out of the last of my posts. It isn't because he isn't having lots and lots of fun I can tell you that.
Nolan has been getting so big lately. He talks non stop. He wants to be a Green Ninja all the time and only wears green shirts most days. He is hilarious and a handful at all times. He is the sweetest most loving little boy in the world but be careful because he will turn on you in a second. ah ah ahah .
He loves to ride his bike and has recently mastered swimming! I am so proud of my little man who has been taking lessons all summer and towards the end it just clicked!
Nolan loves to be outside but I have to make sure I watch him because he also thinks he is a dog and loves to potty in the grass. I am sure the neighbors love looking out their windows and seeing that. :)

Flag Football
Now that baseball is over Nathan has been asking to play football. I signed him up to play in the Cy Fair Flag Football this fall. He has never played before and I know a lot of families around here take football very seriously.
Kyle and I decided to let him play in a very non competitive organization called I 9 over the summer just to get a feel for the game.
His friend Caden also played on the team so it made for some fun Saturdays! Nolan also got to play with his buddy Carson every game since he Caden's little brother. It worked out Perfect!!! Nathan had a great time playing and really tried to learn what was going on. I love how he really tries his hardest and never really complains about it. I know I was very HOT sometimes and he just went on and did what he was supposed to do.
Baseball Awards
At the end of our baseball season Dierkers Champs had a big awards ceremony for the players. We are so proud of Nathan because on top of getting the team trophies he also got the Golden Glove award!!!!! It is only given to one player on the team and the coaches picked the player they thought best deserved the all around Golden Glove and Nathan was their pick! He of course was very shy to be called out on stage in front of everyone to get it . I was so proud of him and he had no idea he was getting it.
