Kindergarten
Nathan is officially a Kindergartener !!!! I can not believe how fast this came. He has been so excited to start school asking most days how much longer. We went to meet his teacher a few nights before school started. He was very quiet and seemed so nervous. He didn't say a word the whole time . When we got in the car he started rambling on about how his teacher told him what a great job he does standing in line!
On the first day of school we got up and ready! He was so excited and looked so handsome. We drove through and I dropped him off :( I am still sad to this day because I was told that we were not allowed to go in with our kids on the first day . It was to help them adjust to school faster. Well sure enough I saw a ton of parents going in! He hopped right out of the car like he had done it a million times before. He almost forgot to give me a kiss goodbye!!! I made sure that didn't happen.
I was waiting all day to pick him up and hear about his day. Kyle and I both got to the car line early in hopes of picking him up first. Well I think everyone else had that same idea. We sat and sat and sat. Finally it was our turn and we could see Nathan. Nolan rolled down his window and kept saying Nay Nay!!! Nay Nay! . We got up and he hopped in the car. He said he had a good day and that was it. I couldn't get any more info out of him. Later Daddy got the scoop from him and it turns out the car rider thing was not okay with him. He really wanted to ride the bus. I said no way. The next day we did the whole thing again except I snuck in this time since I had stuff to drop off ( good excuse right ). After school I got the same response and the day before, he wanted to ride the bus. I talked to some moms at football and they all promised the bus would be safe. I agreed to let him ride the bus the next day . He was soooooo happy. One of the boys who plays football with him even saved him a seat on the bus and made sure that he knew where he was going. I thought that was so sweet and it makes me feel so good that he has big first graders watching out for him.
Every since then he has been riding the bus and doing great! He tells me his favorite part of school is riding the bus.
His teacher called the remind us of a meeting the other night and left such a sweet message about Nathan. She said that he is such a good student and a great example and role model for the other kids in class. It makes me so happy to hear such sweet things about Nathan. We know what an amazing kid he is around here but I always worry about him when he isnt home. It makes me feel so much better about him not being here with me when I get messages like that.
Little Beakers
This summer we took a visit to the new science lab for kids called Little Beakers. Our friends Caden and Carson were even able to join in on the fun. The older boys were hooked up with lab coats and goggles while the little ones were shown to their own science lab full of blocks , microscopes and telescopes. Some of the fun experiments we did included making slime that glows in the dark, snow, battling foam, and a water tornado. The boys were able to play on the lab computers hooked up to microscopes too. We had such a fun time and it was right up both boys alleys. Nathan loves science and Nolan loves to see all of the reactions . We will be going back one day after school to try out some of the other things we didn't have time for.
Nasa
One of our other fun trips this summer was going to Nasa with our friends!!! We packed up and headed out . They had all kinds of fun science stuff set up that Nathan loved. We watched a show with some cool science stuff in it. We went on the tour of Nasa where the boys got to see the command center, space station mock ups!, rovers, and rockets! . They have a new area that we have never been to before with the space station replica for astronauts to train in. It was really neat to see just what it looks like. They also had an area where they train with ropes and pulleys to feel like it does in space with no gravity. The boys were able to watch one of the guys working on it and swinging all around.
After the tour we stopped for lunch in the space cafeteria . We fit in some more fun including taking off in the space shuttle simulated ride, taking a tour of the fake space shuttle and playing in the huge space playground. We ended the perfect day with some dippin dots ice cream and headed back to planet home.
After our visit Nathan tells me that he wants to be a Secret Agent Astronaut. I love that he has combined his two favorite things into one job. Hey who knows, if we are living on space by then it just might be the job to have, :)
Galveston
This summer Granny and Grandpa came to visit us! One of those days we headed out to Galveston to the new Pier. We got so lucky because it was such a beautiful day. We stopped on the way and got some lunch so we would be ready for lots of fun. When we got to the pier the boys were so excited. We headed in to the rides! The kids rides were in the front and the boys hopped right on. We headed into the back where some of the bigger rides were and talked Nathan to getting on . He did his normal panic on the first one where we look like horrible parents for making him ride. After that he LOVED riding the rides. We did so much fun stuff like playing carnival games, face painting and of course eating all that yummy fair food!
It was such a fun day and the boys had a great time showing Granny and Grandpa around.
Gator Country
The boys love a show called Gator Boys. It is pretty funny because it is about a gator farm that rescues gators from lakes and swamps that are threatening to people. The guys dive right into the lakes and catch those gators like nothing. At night when I say "Nolan it is time for bed" he yells out " I just want to watch Gator Boys!!!" ha ha aha.
Since Summer is coming to an end :( we decided to take a day off and head out to a gator farm in Beaumont so the boys could get their gator fix. They were so excited when we told them where we were going. It was a long ride but they did a great job.
We got there just in time for the show that was about to start!!! We headed over to a picnic area where the lady started telling us all about alligators and even brought out her pet 4 year old alligator , Liliy. She brought here around and showed us her teeth, eyes, and how strong her jaw was. The boys were paying such great attention . During the show she also brought out a HUGE python. I guess Nolan thought he was for petting because he jumped up and ran at him ! I about had a heart attack while Kyle intercepted. Next she brought out a little crocodile to show the difference between the two. After she took us over to a huge pond to meet Al , the biggest gator in captivity. I am pretty sure she said he was almost 1,000 pounds! She got in there and started to hit a stick in the water to make him come over to her( The boys have now started to use this same thing in the pool when they are playing gator boys).
Big Al came out of the water and he was HUGE! The boys were watching and thought it was so cool. She got on him and opened his big ol mouth so everyone could see those chompers. At the end of the show she told all the kids to line up and they could hold Lily. The boys were excited. Nolan went first and wanted to giggle and pet Lily rather than hold her. Nathan went next and scooped her up like he had done it a million times before. He was so happy and I think Nolan thought they were taking her home which made him very happy. :)
After we went and saw the baby alligators inside. Nolan kept telling me how cute they were and that he wanted one. ummmmmm no.
We got to eat lunch right in the middle of a room full of snakes and alligators!!! After we got some gator food and walked to the different ponds to feed them. This part freaked me out. It was crazy to see an empty pond all the sudden fill with the gators that had been sleeping at the bottom. We were on a wooden bridge and all I could think was what is some one falls through or jumps over!!!! Well luckily we all got out alive and the boys had such a great time! They are still loving gators till this day and even ask every time we pass a retention pond if there is a gator in it.
This Is Nolan
I feel like Nolan has been left out of the last of my posts. It isn't because he isn't having lots and lots of fun I can tell you that.
Nolan has been getting so big lately. He talks non stop. He wants to be a Green Ninja all the time and only wears green shirts most days. He is hilarious and a handful at all times. He is the sweetest most loving little boy in the world but be careful because he will turn on you in a second. ah ah ahah .
He loves to ride his bike and has recently mastered swimming! I am so proud of my little man who has been taking lessons all summer and towards the end it just clicked!
Nolan loves to be outside but I have to make sure I watch him because he also thinks he is a dog and loves to potty in the grass. I am sure the neighbors love looking out their windows and seeing that. :)
