Camping!
Over Spring Break we decided to take the boys camping! They have been asking for a while now so I finally ordered them a tent and some cots to go camping. We did a trial run in the back yard the weekend before because daddy was worried they might not make it through the whole night. Well they did awesome! They wind was blowing so hard and it was freezing. At about 4:30 I decided to take everyone inside since they were shivering. Nathan kept telling me he was fine and I know he was just trying to prove he could do it.
The next week we packed up to head out! Daddy made sure to pack a little electric heater so we didn't have the freezing problem like before. Everyone was so excited as we drove to our campsite for the next two days. We headed to Lake Livingston which was the closest place just in case we didn't last. We got there and started setting up while the boys started to climb all over logs and have an acorn fight. When we got the tent up daddy made a run to the store for ice while me and the boys went on a fast little hike through the woods. They both brought their binoculars and a map. Nathan was on a mission to find a woodpecker and Nolan was making sure there were no dragons ? We walked a while and decided to head back and meet daddy. We then got the fishing poles and headed over to the lake to see if we could catch anything . We sat for a bit with no luck at all and decided to head back for dinner and smores. We light up the grill and made some burgers . Once we were done Daddy got a big fire started so we could roast our marshmallows and make some somres. Nate was okay with eating them but not so much into cooking them. Nolan was burning them but didnt want to eat them. He would catch them on fire which he thought was hilarious. After some ooey gooey treats we decided to clean up and get ready for bed. It was getting late and cold. We all got tucked in to our beds and turned on one of the boys tiny tablets and watched Wreck It Ralph. The boys were so tired they slept all night long .
The next morning we were up bright and early . We had some breakfast tacos and were ready for the day. Today we decided to do a big hike all around looking for these special " treasure boxes" that a guy from work told us about . We put an app on my phone that gives you the location of the boxes people have hidden and left for you to find. It was pretty cool when we finally found the first one! This one was for kids and was decorated like a cow . You are supposed to bring a little toy to trade for one in the box. The boys got a train and dinosaur and we left glow sticks and a trackable tag that we can log and see where it goes. We found 5 boxes that were hidden all over the park. We were all so tired after all that hiking so we headed back to relax for a bit. After a bit we headed out for some ice cream and a couple more treasure hunts. We then swung by the lake for a little more fishing. We didn't catch anything again and decided it was time for dinner. We made some fajitas and our sweet neighbor brought us cake they had left over for dessert. They boys loved it and were so tired we all got ready and headed to bed. We tried to watch another movie but all fell asleep about half way through. It was a long day so they were very tired. The next morning we got up and starting taking the tent down. The boys played baseball, climbed on logs and blew bubbles while we were packing up . We then loaded in the car and headed home. They boys had a great time and I love that they were happy just playing in nature. It was a fun spring break and I hope we can go camping again very soon.
