Thankful

This is the conversation Nathan and I had today .

Me: Nathan , what are you thankful for?
Nate: Ummmm, I already told Mrs. Cindy at school.
Me: Can you tell me?
Nate: Well?
Me: Please, lets talk about what we are thankful for since it is almost Thanksgiving. ( Thinking it must be something really great since he is holding out on me)
Nate: Okay.......... Trains, Pineapple , and potatoes with cheese on them.
Me: Huh?
Nate: Trains, Pineapple and potatoes with cheese . What are you thankful for?
Me: You guys
Nate: What else
Me: Daddy, all the great things we get to do together, and our families.
Nate: That's all????????

Halloween Weekend!

What a great Halloween we had! The weekend started off on Friday with a little Halloween bash at our house. Our friends came over dressed up in all of their fun costumes and we ate, played, ate and played some more! We had all kinds of fun goodies like a Jello brain, mummy hot dogs with a dipping sauce of blood, witches punch with floating witch hands, and monster dip. Our friends Brady and Cash brought over some really fun Halloween crafts for everyone to make.
On Saturday we went across the street to the Spooktackular parade of dogs! It was so cute. They had a special festival set up with all kinds of dogs in different costumes. We got there right in time to get some Kettle Corn and find a spot . Nolan made friends with the cowboy pug next to him. I think he missed the whole parade because he kept yelling " buppy bupppy " at his new friend. I also saw Nolan sneaking him lots of popcorn.
Nathan got a kick out of all the doggies dressed up . His favorite was the group of pirates !
After the parade we watched the finals for the dog jumping. It is amazing how far those little dogs can jump into the water. Nathan told us he was going to teach Dudley how to jump like that and bring him next year. I would love to see this. :)
On Sunday we went out to Mimi and Papas golf course for a Halloween carnival. We met up with Kathy and Hannah for the fun. Nathan won the cake walk again!!! This is the second time he has won on the first try. Last year he won a huge pumpkin cake and this year he picked out the biggest one they had with strawberries on it. We dug into it right away and it was delicious!
I really think Nathan needs to play the lottery as soon as he can. He is the luckiest kid I have ever met. He wins all kinds of random things like this.
After we went on a hay ride through the haunted woods they had set up. Nathan was not scared of the clown or scary guys at all. I was a little worried about it but he did great. Nolan had fun just yelling at all the scary stuff. He has come up with this new noise he makes when we see any kind of Halloween decor. It goes a little like " ooohhhhhhhhhhhhboooohhhhhhhh" .
After the carnival we headed home for some real trick or treating! The boys were Carol and Max from where the book Where the Wild Things Are. This is one of our favorite books and I was so excited that is what they wanted to be.
Kyle and I started making the head a month or so ago and kind of slacked off a bit. It was a mad rush to get it finished in time and I am so glad we did. Nathan thought it was so cool and he wore that big ol head all night long! Nolan wasn't really sure what trick or treating was all about. He sat in his stroller for the first few houses and then he realized Nathan was getting candy. He popped out of his stroller and followed Nathan up to the next house. He was amazed that people were just handing him goodies! He ended up riding Daddies shoulders about half way through. He would come back from houses just clinching onto the handfuls of candy he had just scored. It was soo funny. It was very hard to pry it out of his hands to put in his bag. Later while we were going through the candy it was very obvious which ones Nolan had. A few of the chocolate candy had fist impressions on them! ha ha ha.
It was a great night and the boys had so much fun! I love Halloween because it is the start of fun fall and then Christmas!
Holiday season here we come!!!!

Harvest Day Parade 2010

This week at school we had Harvest Day! Harvest day starts out with a fun parade where all the kids make their own costumes in class. Nolan was a pumpkin and Nathan was a bat! The kids got all lined up with their teachers and put on a parade for the parents and kids in the big school. It is soooooo cute!
After the big parade the kids met up in the pumpkin patch ( gym) . Nolan was in the first group to pick out a pumpkin since he is in the youngest class. He was running around picking up and putting down all of them. He handed Mrs. Kama a pumpkin . She wrote his name on it and placed it on the cart to go back to class. Nolan saw her and must have thought it looked like a great idea. He started picking up every pumpkin and loading them up on the carts. I just kept putting them back until I realized he was getting pretty fast. Mrs. Kama said to Nolan that we needed to leave some for the rest of the kids. Well that was NOT what he wanted to hear. He immediately ripped of his hat and necklace and stomped off. From the look on every ones face I am pretty sure they have never told him no before. He was not calming down either. They tried to take a group picture but he was still ticked off and wanted to get out of there. I helped walk him back to class and had to disappear. Nathans class went much later since he is so old now :( He obviously had no problem since he is an old pro at the pumpkin picking.

When I got back to pick them up for the day Nolan was sitting on his mat in the best mood. I said oh thank goodness to Mrs Kama. She was laughing about his little outburst earlier.It really was funny because he was just so dramatic.
Nathan was so excited to see us . He had gone trick or treating to all of the classrooms and got some really fun goodies! He also got to make a really cool witch hat in his Spanish class with super fun glasses that Mrs Angela brought for all the kiddos.

After school we ran our errands and Nathan made sure to wear his hat everywhere we went. He got lots and lots of compliments on it. We then met Daddy for a fun dinner night. Nathan said he needed to wear his hat so the chefs could see it. He also picked out a special piece of candy for daddy from his treat bag :)

Robots!

The Museum in Sugarland is having a special exhibit on Robots. It is actually from an animated movie named Robots that Nathan really likes and watches all the time. We kept forgetting about it and just realized it is almost over. We decided to get into gear or we were going to miss it. Friday after Nathan got out of school we loaded up and headed that way. It was pretty darn neat! They had a few of the robots from the movie in a glass case to look at. There was also a special ride that you could sit in and go through robot city. Nolan absolutely loved this! There was a green button to push that made the ride start. The seat would rumble a little and wind would blow like they were really driving. Nolan stayed on this most of the time pressing the green button over and over and over , laughing every time. Some other cool things they had set up were stations like make your own robot, domino's, mechanical robots that you could control , and displays of robots throughout the years. Nathan thought it was pretty cool to make his own robot. Once he had the parts together he was able to hook the motor up to the power and make it run! Once the boys had checked everything we headed out to wander around. The museum had a neat little blow up planetarium set up in the middle of the floor. We walked in and they turned on a movie about space! Nathan quickly decided he was not having it! We walked out and after a little coaxing he decided that he wanted to watch the movie. We went in and laid on the floor and stared into space! Nolan really liked it . He was pretty amazed, it is the longest I have ever seen him sit still in his entire life!
Next we headed to the dinosaurs! Who doesn't love dinosaurs. This museum also has a dino pit where you can dig for dinosaur bones. The boys were so excited and hoped right in. As usual Nathan seriously headed to work. Nolan threw mulch. Nolan laughed. Nolan threw more mulch. Nathan discovered a dinosaur!
It was so much fun and I am so glad we got in gear and made it before it was over.

Dewberry Farms

Last week we were invited to tag along with a friend to Dewberry Farms. We had never been so were very excited to go!
When we got there the boys were so excited. They had pumpkins and Fall rides everywhere!!!! Our first stop was the hay ride.
Nolan wanted to be a big boy and sit with his big brother and friends on the middle of the trailer.
We rode through the farm and ended at the pumpkin patch where the boys got to pick out their own special pumpkin. Nolan picked a tiny one perfect for him . Nathan picked out a special green spotted pumpkin that he has been carrying around in the car with him since.
Next we headed to eat some lunch. After everyone was full we went to play at the little playground they had. The boys had a blast on this cool PVC pipe slide that rolls you down instead of sliding on a flat surface. It was funny to see them bouncing their way down. They had all sorts of fun things to ride including tractors, a swing horse, and digging cranes.
We then headed out to the Haunted Pumpkins . Nathan did not want to go in. It was a very dark barn with tons of carved pumpkins. I got to peak in for a second before Nathan realized he was not having it. It looked very Cool!
We then headed to the Corn Maze. All the kids seemed to go in different directions! Once we got them to follow each other we found our way out. As we were leaving Nolan slipped away from the bunch and headed back in! UH OH!!! I was for sure I was going to loose him in the maze but I got him before he got to far. Naturally he thinks things like this are hilarious and kept laughing harder and harder the further he ran .
After the maze everyone was getting worn out so we decided to just do a couple more things. We bounced on the cool in ground bubble like trampolines and rode a neat cow tractor train they had.
The boys were completely wiped out after the train. We headed back to the car and before we got out of the parking lot Nolan had already passed out! Nathan fought it the whole way home and rushed up to take a "rest" when we arrived.
The boys had so much fun . I love fall so much . I think we are going to head out the pumpkin patch by Mimi and Papas house when it cools off just a little more.
