Easter

Easter is Nolans favorite holiday so he has been counting down the days till it was here. We had a great day with our family. We got to Mimi's house where Kathy , Richard and Chad were waiting. We ate a delicious lunch and then it was time for the hunt. The boys are so spoiled since Mimi stuffs all kinds of eggs full of goodies for them to find. Chad and I headed out to hide while everyone kept the boys occupied upstairs. We had tons of eggs ranging from the real ones, money eggs , goodie eggs, and confetti eggs. When it was time the boys were off and running like mad men all around Mimi's yard. It was such a beautiful day and a great time hanging out with our family. The boys and Chad even got into the annual confetti egg smash which is always the highlight of the day :)

Eater Eggs

This year we decided to try something new to dye our eggs. I kept hearing how you could use shaving cream and food coloring. The boys thought it sounded fun so we gave it a shot. We put a thin layer of shaving cream in a pan then swirled the different colors of food coloring we wanted in the cream. The boys were picking different combos like the Hulk, Superman, and of course the "purple Ninja ".Next we rolled the egg through and sat it aside to dry. After all of them were rolled we wiped off the extra shaving cream and sure enough it worked! They were all swirled different colors and came out so pretty. We were so glad it actually worked. This was more hands on and way less of a mess and smell than the vinegar way from the store. I say this is our new way to dye easter eggs in our house.

Rice Baseball

Now that it is baseball season we have been going to catch some games at Rice. Nathan has decided Rice is  where he will go to school . I hope he does ! I will say I highly support this decision. It is a wonderful school complete with a beautiful campus and amazing people.  Not to mention close to home :)

The baseball games are so fun , it is such a different atmosphere than a major league game.  We have been to several this season so far . I am pretty sure we are good luck since they have won everyone we have been to. Our friends have also gone to a couple games with us which makes it even more fun!. Nate even has his favorite players #7 John Clay and #44 Skyler. After the game the boys can even go and talk to the players. At the first game Daddy bought Nate a Rice baseball and all of the players even signed it for him . Including #7 twice. These players are so nice and genuine with the kids after the games. I hope they realize how much that means to little ones like Nate and Nolan.

April Fools Day

This year I looked and looked for a funny prank to pull on the boys . When I came across the Jello that looked like juice I knew it was perfect. I don't let the boys drink many sugary colorful drinks ( I know , I am a horrible mom) so I knew they would be so distracted they wouldn't even notice it looked a little different. I got their normal cups they drink out of for breakfast and made jello in them complete with a straw. The next morning I made the normal breakfast and instead of water or milk they had a huge cup of red juice waiting for them. They were excited and ran to drink . They kept sucking and sucking with a weird look on their face. Finally Nathan looked at me and pulled the straw out with Jello hanging from it. He realized what it was and both boys started laughing so hard . I was so proud of myself!  I got em!!!!

Lets Go Rockets

As we all know daddy is a HUGE Rockets fan so it is always fun when we can all go to the game together. Nathan has started picking up some of his fathers fan skills and has become pretty intense during the game. This time was the most and it was so funny. He kept yelling at the refs, shaking his head and throwing his hands in the air. It was so much that the young man sitting in front of us would start with him and Kyle and when they would score he would turn and celebrate with Nate. It was so funny to watch my quiet reserved child getting so crazy . He is definitely Kyles son.
The Rockets did win and I am sure it had to do with all the support they were getting from some special little people in the stands. :)

Bedtimes Stories

My most favorite site in the whole wide world is these sweet boys cuddling in Nolan's bed and reading together .

Wanted

Monster Truck

Nolan's birthday present from us was also a trip to the Monster Truck Jam that perfectly fell on his birthday weekend!
The boys were so excited since we used to look up a lot on you tube and watch. We somehow always missed it when it came to town.
When we got there the place was packed full of Monster Truck fans. I had no clue there was such a huge following. I am pretty sure we were one of the few who were not wearing a team shirt and coordinating flag.
The show started off with a bang. In the first race one of the trucks flipped over and the crowd went crazy. The following races were just as exciting with some doing flips, others spinning around in the air of course a few more crashes. The boys went crazy for the finals where the Grave Digger came out! That is their favorite truck and he was doing all kinds of cool things .
It was much more fun that I think any of had anticipated.

Nolan's Birthday Present

On Nolan's actual birthday daddy and I picked him up from school and surprised him with a trip to the bike shop to pick out his new big boy bike! He was so excited . The sweet lady at the store led him to the section with his size. He was able to try them out and ride around the store . He finally decided on the green and black . We walked it back to the shop so they could get it all tightened and ready for him to go. While we waited we got to sneak next door for some birthday frozen yogurt.
Here is a picture of him and his adorable self :)
